I had a meeting last week with a client to discuss November onward.

I could have showed up empty-handed — chatted, seen where they were at, let them lead.

But instead, I put together a presentation showing them what our next six months could look like together:

• What the retainer would include

• The work we’d deliver 

• The value they’d gain

• The outcome we both wanted to reach

I led.

And they agreed to my terms, as outlined.

Without that upfront work:

• We may have extended by one month — instead, we extended by six. 

• We may have continued at our current retainer — instead we planned to grow it by $5k/mo ($30k additional). 

• They may not have seen the value of continuing at all. But I painted a picture they could clearly visualize.

That's the power of driving.
