Hot jobs + the proposals & contracts to close ‘em!
Here’s to successful & happy projects!
"Let's just wing it" are four of the most anxiety-inducing words in freelancing.
I had an eye-opening conversation with a brilliant freelancer recently that I was bringing on to help with some client work:
They said they don't usually send contracts or written proposals for projects and that we could just "wing it." 😬
After a bit of back-and-forth, I convinced them to use a contract in this scenario, and here's why:
Without a contract, you're leaving a lot up to interpretation. No clear scope, timeline, payment terms, or communication expectations documented? No signatures to make it binding?
That's a recipe for misunderstandings, scope creep, and payment headaches.
What if I leave the project and someone else takes over the relationship?
We can't rely on previous phone calls or emails to align the new point of contact.
Whether you're the freelancer or the client, I URGE you to get everything in writing BEFORE work begins.
It protects everyone involved and lays the foundation for a successful and happy project.
Are you embarrassed after reading that because you're not using a good proposal or contract today?
We can help.
