3 ways to bridge the gap between "making it" to "thriving."
PLUS this week's hottest jobs
You've got clients. You're doing the work. You're making an impact.
But does that financial cushion still feel a bit thin?
Most freelancers know their sweet spot — when just one or two more quality clients would transform your business from "making it" to "thriving."
Here are three ways for you to bridge that gap:
1. Revisit your elevator pitch with fresh eyes. After working with clients for a while, you've learned what truly makes your work valuable. Does your pitch reflect that? A slight refinement can help you speak directly to the type of client you want to attract. So, the next time you send outreach, your message resonates.
2. Have a quick check-in with your references and network. Your past clients already love you — but do they know how to articulate why? And do they know you're open to more work? A brief message saying, "Hey, I'm looking for projects that involve x, y & z now. Do you know anyone who needs help? If not, are you willing to act as a reference for me?" can spark the conversation that leads to your next big project. Send three quick notes a week.
3. Quality over quantity: Try prioritizing one high-fit application per day. You don't need to spray the internet with applications to the point you lose track. As someone with experience, you know which opportunities align with your skills. Be selective but consistent.
Between client work and admin tasks, finding those perfect opportunities can be time-consuming. But consistent work and self-promotion are what get you from "making it" to "thriving."
